RSS Feed Imports In Reverse Date Order

I'm having problems with an RSS feed that we are using to generate news bulletins.  We have about 5 feeds we use including a campus announcements feed from our own page as well as CNN, AP News, Campus Athletics etc.  One of the feeds that is generated by a campus calendar application we have always imports with the dates farthest out at the date and the closet dates at the bottom.  Because the new bulletin only allows 10 to be generated and it does the top 10 from the imported rows, we have October announcements displaying instead of the July ones.   Is that a problem with the RSS from the calendar or something in AxisTV?  Here is the feed that this calendar generates.  It is a commercial product the marketing folks paid for.  It displays in chronological order in Firefox.  http://www.murraystate.info/calendar/events/rss.php?l=2,4,3,7,12,6,9,8,10,11,14,5,13&c=Murray

The RSS Adapter imports data for the AxisTV News Plugin and is looking for the “latest” news to display, or more specifically, the most recent “pubDate” timestamps in the RSS feed.  This is unlike the AxisTV Event Schedule Display Plugin which is looking for the most current upcoming events to display.

In your example, if you examine the pubDate timestamps in your campus calendar RSS feed for today, 7/13/2009, you will find the latest pubDate to be “Tue, 06 Oct 2009 19:00:00 -0600” (even though it is in the future).  Therefore, an AxisTV News Bulletin will display this article first because it is the latest pubDate in the RSS feed.

All of the pubDate timestamps in CNN’s Top Stories RSS feed for today, on the other hand, are dated “Mon, 13 Jul 2009…” since CNN is constantly publishing the latest current events.

The type of data in your campus calendar is better suited for display in AxisTV using the Event Schedule Display option.  Visix has a number of event data adapters for the AxisTV Event Schedule Display Plugin, e.g., Dean Evans EMS Adapter, Microsoft Exchange Adapter, etc.  Please contact Visix for more information.

That makes since.  I'm not sure why the calendar app they bought does it like that.  Seems strange but it definitely answers my question.

    Thanks-cp
